An inspirational welcome awaits from the Exeter Illustrators
Exeter Illustrators are back this year with an inspiring new exhibition hosted by the Welcome Café on Exeter’s Quayside. The Be Inspired Illustration Exhibition 2018 is Exeter Illustrators’ second group showcase of artwork and follows their successful appearance at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in 2017. It is also part of this year’s Art Week Exeter – the annual art festival that aims to encourage and frame artistic activity around the city.
22 pieces of artwork will be on display in this beautiful and historic setting. Exhibitors include Plymouth College of Art students, who won an illustration competition organised by Exeter Illustrators.
The number of professional working artists in the group is rising and members of Exeter Illustrators have been busy this past year.
Tom McLaughlin, Paul Cherrill and Clare Elsom ran a children’s book illustration workshop at The Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) last summer, giving aspiring illustrators a chance to hone their skills with three of the industry’s finest.
A special edition of Exeter Illustrators’ collaborative Buildings of Exeter art print was commissioned by the Lord Mayor’s Office and delivered in person by Clare Elsom and Paul Cherrill in October. This exclusive art print included an additional illustration of Exeter’s historic Guildhall by Hannah Foley and was presented to the Mayor of Bad Homburg as a civic gift during a visit to the city.
In December Adrian Stone and Amy Rogers, exhibited artwork at the festive Exeter Cathedral Art Exhibition – a feast of creative artworks by artists from across the West Country.
Earlier this year, Exeter Illustrators provided artwork to adorn the walls of the Generator Co-Working Hub in the renowned Kings Wharf building on Exeter’s Quayside, adding a splash of colour to an already lively community.
Victoria Byron was chosen to illustrate Exeter Living Magazine’s monthly column written by single dad-of-two Jonathan Taylor. She has successfully complemented the writer’s honest and enlightening accounts of parenthood with her own visual humour.
Most recently, the group participated in the Exeter Art Show 2018 at The Maynard’s School, Exeter. The exhibition ran from 20 – 22 April and helped raise over £15,000 for the charity Young Minds. This was a great opportunity for members of Exeter Illustrators to join other artists in the West Country’s biggest exhibition of its kind.
The Exeter Illustrators’ Be Inspired Illustration Exhibition 2018 at The Welcome Café is from Tuesday 22nd May to Sunday 3rd June 2018.
