Organic city farming and family fun at West Town Farm (a pictorial blog)
We had a great day out at West Town Farm last week and I created this little picture diary to show you guys some of the highlights:
Here is the very lovely Kevin who my son thinks is the bee’s knees. Kevin was our guide and the teller of some awesome stories about the adventures of Mouse Deer, here he is telling us about the farm.
Here is a picture of my wellies to show you that it was raining (quite a lot) nice though aren’t they?
This is one of the activity tables that Kevin had set up, this one has clay on it that my daughter loved playing with and making insects out of.
Kevin gave us a tour of the farm and we met these beauties, Mama and baby cow.
This it the old piano that the kids found to play on (no Chas n Dave in sight) and next to the piano is the psychedelic cow, straight out of Yellow Submarine
We had a quick stop to feed the littlies (who were a bit wet but didn’t seem to notice at all)..
But it was very quick because they were quite keen to get in the mud!
The kids also got to make clay bugs, beeswax bees and drink hot chocolate. Then we all gathered around again to hear one last story before we had to go.
West Town Farm welcome school groups and regularly show them around and teach them about organic farming. They have a mini tour on their website here.
West Town Farm is in the beautiful village of Ide, just outside of Exeter.
Thanks to West Town Farm and Kevin for a very informative afternoon, thanks to fellow Blogger, Hannah from Devon Daze for opening up the invite and to lovely Amelie Foster who runs the very handy Facebook group: Fun & Free ( or cheap ) Events Activities Families Exeter for inviting me along 🙂
